Welcome to Ember. By downloading or using the Ember app (“Ember,” “the app,” “we,” “us”), you agree to these Terms of Use. Please read them carefully, along with our Privacy Policy.

Not medical care

Ember is a supportive companion, not a medical device, treatment, diagnosis, or a substitute for professional care. Its content and its AI coach are for general support and motivation only and must not be relied on as medical, psychological, or clinical advice.

Alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous. If you drink heavily or frequently, stopping suddenly can cause serious or life-threatening symptoms. Talk to a doctor or a qualified medical professional before making changes to your drinking. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or contact the SAMHSA National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357. In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.

The AI coach

Ember's coach is generated by an automated language model. It aims to be warm and helpful, but it can be wrong, incomplete, or unsuitable for your situation. Use your own judgment, and never treat its responses as a substitute for a doctor, therapist, sponsor, or emergency service. Do not rely on Ember for any urgent or medical decision.

Acceptable use

You agree to use Ember for your personal, non-commercial recovery support. You agree not to misuse the app, attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer it, or use it in any unlawful way.

Subscriptions and purchases

Ember offers an auto-renewing subscription (Ember Pro) and a one-time lifetime purchase, sold through the Apple App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Auto-renewing subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings. The lifetime option is a one-time purchase and does not renew. All purchases are subject to Apple's standard End User License Agreement (EULA).

Intellectual property

Ember, its flame mark, name, design, and content are owned by PLAYRIOT LLC and are protected by applicable laws. These Terms do not grant you any ownership of the app.

No warranty; limitation of liability

Ember is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, PLAYRIOT LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app, including any reliance on the AI coach or app content.

Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be posted here. Continued use of Ember after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
